As a veteran of the punk rock revolution (I'm 52), I read about them in the NME. This was a time when dinosaur bands were the order of the day. I'm talking Led Zeppelin, the Stones, Yes, Pink Floyd etc. So for a 19 year old rock 'n' roll nut The Clash (and the Pistols, Ramones, Heartbreakers and even Eddie and the Hotrods etc) were a very exciting prospect. '76 - '78 were great times for me and my mates. We got to see all of the above bands (Tho' I missed out on the Ramones) in that period. The Clash were always my favourite and I saw them several times up until they split. I probably love them more now than I did then.

In 76/77 I was 18 years old and crazy about all those 7" coming from the UK and USA.
It was the first time that music was made for my generation instead of my older brother.
First there was White Riot and than the first album and it knock me out.
I saw them live in Amsterdam and from that moment it was and stil is my fav. band...ever.
Read all about it,cut my hair and got on a rollercoaster for 5 years :-)Posted 9 months ago # -
as another veteran of the 80's punk rock wars(i'm in my mid-40's now) all my mates were into the clash, so i couldn't avoid them at the time.

I was watching tv and I saw the video of "should I stay or should I go" I soon bought an album that was really cheap cause here in Italy people don't know punk really well and I realized that if I hoped I hear a Clash song in tv or on the radio, it wouldn't happened.

My elder brother returned from Newcastle University one holiday clutching 'Tommy Gun' 7" plus 'He's Frank (Slight Return)' by The Monochrome Set - That, as they say, was that!

Well a few months ago for me. My uncle showed me the song Clash City Rockers and then I looked into the band. Over and over and found good music in this band. And then I found really good music after this.

Honestly? Blame John Cusack, they're in all of his movies and he is one of my favorite actors, so I had to find out what this "the Clash" is all about.
