Is that really a question? The Ramones = Punk rock. Nuff said. Well, not really....
The Ramones blew the heads off people that saw them back in the day. No one, I repeat no one, was doing anything like them in New York. I recall seeing them open for Blue Oyster Cult, getting booed off the stage - I believe it was their first coliseum show - and they ended up storming off the stage, giving the crowd the finger, and I recall Joey screaming, "We're heading back for another set at CBGBs, where we're appreciated. Fuck you!"
My friends and I had never seen anything like them, but we thought they were hilarious, fun and DEFINITELY PUNKS!!! And this from someone that was at CBGBs for bands like Television and Blondie.
Years later, I became CJ's videographer with his side band, who's name I can't recall for the life of me. But every show I ever videotaped ended in a huge fight, with the electricity being shut off and the crowd ushered out, as bottles and chairs flew. I still have those tapes somewhere.

Yeah there Punk!! possibly the first Punk band ever formed. Joe was a huge fan.

Yeah, not the first punk sounding band. It started like in the early sixties and stuff. Hell yeah, the Ramones made a huge impact in music.
