Are the CLASH FANS young or old? (You may just state your age...)

Did the older ones "mature" and left The Clash behind while the "younger wave" is tired of listening to Linkin Park (a random example) and started listening to Clash? Or...
Did the 70's punks remained "punky" while the younger ones tend to listen "todays" music?
    This gallop needs YOU!!!

    i´m 22
i was a bit lost listening to lots of older U2 stuff with about thirteen they´ve been played on the radio alot, the only ones who caught my attention but i was a bit bored.
everything began quite late for me with the Gorillaz. (in 2000 i think)
it was day zero. i discovered so many great bands. but none as great as the clash *smugsmilie*

Im 21 years old. I got into The Clash when the drummer(Brad Pemberton) from one of my favorite bands The Cardinals(fronted by Ryan Adams), informed me via facebook message that The Clash was one of his favorite bands and Topper such a huge inspiration to his own drumming style. I have been a HUGE fan ever since!

I'm 15 and absolutely LOVE The Clash! My dad's a huge fan too which is part of the reason i got into them in the first place. I love their lyrics and the music and everything! I'm so sick of all the mainstream crap we here on the radio today, it all sounds the same i can barely even tell the difference anymore.

i just turned 14 ! but i love old bands from like the 70's and 80's. i basically live and breathe it ; ) I LOVE THE CLASH THE MOST THO <3 ! they are my favourite band, its soo hard to find a good band like them anymore, most of the stuff people are listening to now is stuff someone else wrote, or they just suck ; ).

Long live the Clash ! <3

I am 41 years old, and my first encounter was the Clash MK II back in ´85 (as I said before, I still love This is England ....).
Despite being a fervent Clash fan, I grew up to be a respectable middle class man with a wife, two kids and a house in the suburbs, but who cares, I´m still all for them .......

I'm 16 and my younger sister is 12 and we both love the Clash though we're not punks or something. Our days' mainstreem music just isn't good, so we decided to listen to some cool older music, ya know.

I'm nearly 54 -- and still listen to The Clash all the time. Got the first LP as an import here in the States in 1977 and saw my first of 12 Clash shows in 2/79 in NYC. Still the most thrilling band I've ever seen. Listen to loads of other stuff...all universes from Grateful Dead and Charles Mingus to The Kinks and The Meters.

I'm 15 years old and The Clash is my all-time favorite band. When I heard about their book that came out in 2007/2008, I went out and bought it with my own money (and it wasn't cheap, either). Now I hear about The Clash Converse, and I'm trying to save up too. People at my school talk about these weirdo bands and singers and I say I don't know who the heck you're talking about. But I do know The Clash (I listen to other stuff too- old stuff only!) I live in the past.

The Clash were never a trainers (US sneakers) band. Do yerself a favour and save up for either a pair of Doc Martens, Hudsons motorcycle boots or brothel creepers. Cooler by far than a pair of converse. They'll last a lot longer too.
Regarding the book, check on Amazon. Loads of books available. I'd recommend Pat Gilbert's "Passion is a fashion", Chris Salewicz's "Redemption Song" (His latest tome on Bob Marley is also great), either of Marcus Gray's or for superb images of "The only band that matters" Bob Gruen's "The Clash" is unbeatable.
    Keep the campfire burning.

Actually ZK, I've already read those books. How could I ever miss the opportunity to read about my favourite band? "Passion is a Fashion" was my absolute favorite, and the pictures in "The Clash: Before and After" has some really brilliant pictures of the band. My local library actually had those books, which was quite surprising to me. I recommend these books to EVERYONE. Really great stuff.

  21. I am 20 years old, and I think The Clash was one of the best band's in the world.
Just arrived home from a friend where we watched Rude boy. I hope the music never dies.

    16. I just love what they stand for and Joe's lyrics are great. They don't sing about crap that you hear all the time on the radio, their lyrics are meaningful. I wish I wasn't born in this era!

I'm 46 and haved loved from clash from the first time i heard them in 77.I saw them many times (around the midlands) but My lasting memory is sneaking off to the victoria park rock against racsim gig with my best mate newt. We were just kids and told our folks it was a school trip!! Got on a coach and didn't get back 'till god knows what time. By this time, our folks had sussed out it was no school trip and were searching the streets worried sick.We both got in terrible trouble but it was worth every minute. Still now (and i'ved lived a bit) it's one of the best days of my life.

  26. I'm 46 now but sometimes I still feel about 15 - which was the age i was when I first saw the clash in 1978 at the Brighton Top rank. It changed my life and made me decide to go to art college and become an artist, which I did. I have my clash vinyl collection on my studio wall at one end and the artwork still provides me with inspiration when i'm stuck on a painting, not to mention the music. I'm still in touch with many of the people I went to gigs with back in the day, we've all moved on and listen to contemporary music now, but at heart we are all still punks; freedom of expression, liberalism and a non-judgemental attitude are the attributes I associate with punk. God bless the Clash and all who sail in her! Alexander
